Our feet carry us through our entire lives. If they are not well, we are not well.
It is not that difficult to do something good for your feet and improve your quality of life.
It often starts with the basics: choosing the right shoe size. It may be surprising, but many people wear shoes that do not fit optimally. Too small, too large, too tight, or too loose – all of this leads to pain, tension, and improper loading. These problems can affect not only the feet but the entire musculoskeletal system. Therefore, it is important to choose shoes that offer enough space for the feet without slipping. Those who are between two sizes should opt for the larger one. The toes should have enough space in the forefoot area, and the heel should be perfectly enclosed.
Another aspect of healthy footwear is the material. Breathable shoes and socks are essential to avoid a damp-warm climate inside the shoe, which can lead to sweaty feet. At the same time, it is important that the material is both stable and soft to provide the necessary support for the foot while avoiding pressure points.
The sole of the shoe also plays a significant role. Flexible shoe soles allow for a natural rolling motion of the foot, which is particularly important for foot health. A stable shaft and a non-slip sole that provides secure footing on uneven surfaces are also essential.
If the feet already have deformities, it is advisable to consult an orthopedist and, if necessary, wear suitable insoles.
Safety shoes with DGUV certification allow for orthopedic adjustment without losing their safety certification.
Shoes should also be changed regularly. This not only preserves the footwear but also allows the material to dry and air out.
In addition to choosing the right footwear, there are other measures to promote foot health. Walking barefoot in leisure time, regular foot baths and massages, as well as foot exercises strengthen the feet, promote mobility, and support overall well-being.
