Work trousers & work shorts

Trousers are often part of the standard kit in industry and the trades. A good fit and high levels of comfort are particularly important here. Dungarees are a good choice for certain jobs: they stay securely in place without slipping and protect your lower back from draughts when you’re frequently bending over. With our dungarees, you can easily adjust them for the perfect fit thanks to adjustable straps and a quick-release buckle. What’s more, the dungarees offer extra space for small tools or pens right at chest height.

When temperatures rise in summer or you frequently work in warm indoor environments, long trousers are often too hot. The men’s work shorts in our range offer you noticeable comfort in such situations, as they are pleasantly breathable and you don’t have to compromise on the features you’ve come to expect from work trousers. Despite feeling lighter, the stretch fabric remains robust and tear-resistant. And our work shorts also feature practical pockets.

Our tip: If your job involves a lot of walking and moving around, we recommend our stretch cargo trousers. If, on the other hand, you spend a lot of time on your knees – for example, as a tiler – you should opt for trousers with knee pads or a pair of sturdy dungarees.

The choice of colours is often rooted in tradition in industrial and craft-based workplaces, but it also frequently serves a practical purpose, making dirt, dust or oil stains less noticeable whilst working. Dark shades are therefore particularly popular:

• Black and grey work trousers are hard-wearing all-rounders and ideal for car repair workshops, logistics or industry.
• Blue men’s work trousers: This colour is the classic choice for the plumbing, heating and air-conditioning sectors, as well as for electricians and metalworkers.
• Work trousers in green or brown are particularly popular in gardening and landscaping, as well as in forestry and agriculture, as dirt and grass stains are hardly noticeable.

The weather determines what clothes are best to wear. Our range is designed for all seasons:

To ensure your work trousers neither slip down nor pinch, it’s important to choose the right size. To find the correct size, follow these steps:

• Use a tape measure to measure your waist (just below your navel) and your total height.
• Now measure your hip circumference (at the widest point of your bottom) and your inside leg length (from the crotch to the ankle).
• Check your measurements against the men’s size guide, which you’ll find on the individual product pages.

In our online shop, we offer a wide range of sizes so that everyone can find the right pair of trousers:

• XS to S: Ideal for slender figures (waist circumference approx. 78–85 cm)
• M to XL: The classic standard sizes (waist circumference approx. 86–99 cm)
• 2XL to 3XL: Comfortable, generously cut plus sizes (waist circumference approx. 100–109 cm)

When washing, follow the cleaning and care instructions on the label of your trousers. Washing temperatures of 40–60 °C are usually ideal.

Important to note first:

For work trousers made from modern blended fabrics such as cotton and polyester, you should definitely avoid using fabric softener, as this reduces breathability and causes elasticated stretch panels to lose their shape. It is best to air-dry the trousers or use a gentle tumble-dry cycle at a low heat setting to prevent the fibres from shrinking.

As workwear must never restrict your movement when you’re moving around, bending over or lifting, if in doubt – or if you’re between two sizes – you should opt for the larger size. Thanks to the elasticated stretch panels and flexible waistband design, the trousers still sit securely around your waist without slipping, whilst offering you the necessary room around your legs and in the crotch.

Special work trousers or overalls are always compulsory if your day-to-day work involves specific risks, e.g. protection against cuts, flying sparks, chemicals or extreme weather conditions.

The lifespan of a pair of work trousers depends heavily on the type of work you do and how well you look after them. Whilst a high-quality pair of trousers may wear out after one to two years of daily, heavy-duty use on a building site, they often last considerably longer when used for lighter tasks in a workshop. It’s definitely time for a new pair of work trousers when the fabric is worn thin or torn to the point where it no longer provides adequate protection, when the bottoms of important pockets are full of holes, or when safety features such as knee pad pockets and reflectors are damaged.
